WEDMKE!

Hey friends! It's been a crazy busy past few weeks for the Coqui Girl Gang! From wedding shows to wedding invitation consultations, we have been running around like mad women, but we truly love what we do! We feel so fortunate to be able to work with so many great clients.

A few weeks ago we had the great pleasure of participating in one of Milwaukee's newest wedding showcases, WEDMKE. This event features distinctive, local vendors in a super trendy and hip setting (aka Turner Hall). This wedding showcase invites local vendors that have unique offerings and services, ranging from gourmet eats to floral crowns! Local musicians play music as you peruse each vendor's station! This is the perfect wedding showcase to attend for couple's seeking to add a touch hipster to their wedding.

Sounds pretty fun, right? Here's a few photos from the event for your viewing pleasure, enjoy! All pictures brought to you by the amazing Front Room Photography!

Things we love: Watercolor!

Hey friends! I hope you're having a lovely week thus far! Despite the recent March snowstorm here in Milwaukee (sigh!), this doesn't mean we're going to stop thinking happy Spring thoughts. Speaking of which, this is an apropos time to discuss some cheerful ideas and inspiration to help us all "spring forward!"

Let's talk about one of our favorite design trends that we're currently obsessing over, shall we?! Drum roll please...watercolor! While this is certainly a design 'trend' as of late, we're going to be honest with you, we think it's definitely here to stay!

Why watercolor you may ask? Watercolor is incredibly versatile. While it's usually associated with a soft and subdued look, you can also create a beautiful bold statement. The beauty of watercolor is that less is truly more! Think outside that Crayola watercolor box and into the world of beautiful florals and foliage. From maps to agate-gold foiled inspired invitations, the possibilities remain endless!

Feast your eyes on these beautiful custom creations that are designed in house by our lead designer, Elizabeth! One of the unique things about Coqui is that we can provide you with any type of custom watercolor design! Any of these invitations can be customized to fit your needs! To book an appointment with one of our talented designers you can visit www.shopcoqui.com and click "schedule now". We'd love to bring your dreams to life and create a beautiful custom design for you!

Don't Forget Your Sweetie!

Hey! It's been awhile!

Ladies and gents, Valentine's Day is tomorrow! Can you believe it?! This means that you get to pull out all the stops for the one you love...or maybe for that person you've only gone on a few dates with (we don't judge!). Either way, there's something incredibly old-fashioned and charming about giving some good ole' letter love!

5 tips for Writing the Perfect Valentine:

1. Set aside some time to write your Valentine's, you don't want to be rushed! Light a candle, set the mood!

2. Write from the heart, not the head. We can all get a little caught up in saying the right thing, but the great part about a Valentine is that you can't go wrong, say what you want to say!

3. For goodness sake, turn on some Al Green, Beyonce, Adele, whatever will help! If necessary, drink wine...yes, definitely drink some wine!

4. Write with a pretty pen so you feel fancy! It's not necessary, but surely it can only help!? If you're a matchy matchy type of person, we have a colored pen that will match any card you can find.

5. Enjoy it, this is meant to be fun! We have cards to accommodate any type of relationship. Whether this is a romantic relationship, friendship or just a really strong bond between you and your dog. Like I said, we don't judge.

We hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day! Be sure to stop into our store to pick out the perfect card for your sweetie!

Love,

Team Coqui

If you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, getting everything organized and ready in time can be daunting. How early do you need to shop for food? What activities should you plan to make sure everyone on your guest list has a great time? It can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we created this handy Thanksgiving planning checklist.

So relax and take a deep breath! Here’s your list of to-do’s to make sure your gathering is a great one.

Decide on the type of your gathering. Is your gathering going to be casual or formal? Will it be kid-friendly? Asking yourself these questions and looking at your guest list will help you to determine what kind of mood to set for your Thanksgiving dinner.

Inviting guests. Make sure you invite your guests as early as you can before Thanksgiving so everyone will be on time. Let them know by early November. You can help set the mood for your occasion by sending each of your guests an invitation. We have several options for invites at the Coqui store that can help you get the word out.

Start planning out your menu. Based on who is planning on attending your Thanksgiving gathering, you will need to start figuring out what food you will need to buy. If you are having five people or less at your party, a small young turkey that’s about 15 pounds or less will do. If you have more than five people attending, you will want to get a bigger turkey. You should also decide if you would like to ask your guests to bring a dish to pass.

Figure out what help you need. Ask family or friends to arrive early to help with meal preparation or shopping.

Shop for food. Now that you have your guest list set and your Thanksgiving dinner planned out, it’s time to buy the food and decorations. Make sure you buy your turkey at least the weekend before Thanksgiving. If it’s frozen, leave it in the refrigerator so it can thaw. The turkey will need about five hours per pound to thaw, so if you buy a 15-pound turkey frozen on Saturday it should be thawed by Tuesday evening. You can keep it in the fridge for a couple of days after it’s thawed. If your turkey is much larger, buy it sooner to give it more time to defrost.

Hunt for decor. Create a tradition you can carry on going forward such as personalized place cards for each guest!

Following this planning checklist will help you to be better prepared for your Thanksgiving party. If you need any ideas for invitations, gifts or decorations, let us know by leaving a comment! We’d be glad to help you make sure your Thanksgiving is a memorable one.
